Pigeons:

Pecan

Pecan put their rescuer on a good chase outwitting their traps for almost a month! Alas, Pecan kept coming back and finally, the rescuer was able to catch them. Pecan is an ex-racing pigeon and like many got lost on their journey back to the loft. Racing pigeons are taken generally 300-500 miles away from their home and made to find their way back. Unfortunately, many don’t make it back from the journey as a result.

Surely, Pecan surely wouldn’t have survived without seed and water provided from their finder who was trying to catch them. It is a miracle that they didn’t get picked off by a predator either. Now Pecan gets to live the life of luxury with friends, an all you can eat seed buffet, and a swimming pool. Doesn’t get much better than that! Come along for Pecan’s journey through sponsoring them below!

crumpet the white homing pigeon

Crumpet

This guy is Crumpet and Crumpet is the oldest racing pigeon we have rescued at 8 years old! Given their age, Crumpet acts like everything is old news and they are tired of hearing it. As to not to be rude though, they will give you the forced smile and polite head nod to act like it is interesting.

Poor Crumpet was found emaciated, with lice, and a minor wing injury. With a little TLC, they are quickly gaining the weight back though and are feeling a lot better without the creepy crawlies either. This special pigeon would love to have you as their sponsor! Click below to sponsor them!

Eridan (aka Eri)

Eri is quite the fighter! After a car hit them, they lost a wing and were stranded on the highway until a kind individual spotted them and rushed them to our sanctuary. Despite the traumatic event (and at just a few months old too), Eri was set on showing us their spunky side.

We have high hopes that losing a wing won’t slow this fun fella down and that they will have many adventures in the aviary once healed. Eri would absolutely love a sponsor to help with their recovery and provide for their seed fund! Will you be their sponsor?

Potion the adorable black rock pigeon when he was first rescued and covered in oil

Potion

New rescue alert! This is Potion, one of our newest rescues. They were found badly coated in oil and emaciated. Luckily, someone found them and brought them to us so we can take care of them, but we need your help! We’re looking for someone to sponsor Potion so we can continue to accept new rescues by supporting us. Interested in sponsoring or becoming a Pigeon Protector? Hit the link below to sign up!

Buddy

Buddy is an adorable, spunky gal with tons of personality. Not only do we think Buddy could win an interpretive dance competition for her funky moves, but we also think that she may be the next best bet for beating Sierra to the seed bowl. If that doesn’t show courage, stealth, and endurance, we don’t know what does.

She has been adjusting to life at our sanctuary well and her and Milkshake have quickly become enamored with one another. They do everything together. This sweetheart is not one who’s stories you are going to want to miss. Be sure to come along for the adventure through sponsoring her below.

bubbles the chaotic king pigeon

Bubbles

Bubbles is chaos incarnate. He always finds a way to have a good time. He is by far the most inquisitive and silly bird we have ever met. Bubbles favorite things are to land on people’s head, play his xylophone at 1am, and chaotically laugh while laying under a puppy pad.

Many take life tips from Bubbles. Such advice is to flirt at yourself in a mirror or to wing slap the food bag to try to get an extra bit of seed. There is so much to learn from Bubbles by sponsoring him below.

Milkshake aka "Milk"

Milk is an adorable youngster who has shown so much love to people from the very start. He was found as an abandoned feral/domestic cross at a very young age. The finder hand raised them as they looked for a home and saved Milk’s life in the meantime.

Within seconds of being in our care, it was clear to us that Milk was going to be a complete mush. We can’t wait to watch this little one grow up and thrive here at the sanctuary. Want to join us on Milk’s journey? Sponsor him below.

Jude the king pigeon sitting on a rope swing

Jude

Jude is one of our most outgoing pigeons. He is quite the character and is best friends with another pigeon here, Dante. The two of them do everything together including Jude trying to flirt with Dante’s wife, Beatrice.

Jude loves greatly people and oftentimes helps you do tasks around the aviary like cleaning by perching on your shoulder for the time. He is a great helper in teaching the new pigeons that we can be trusted and has spurred a few to gain the courage to perch on us as well. Consider sponsoring this amazing boy below.

Bobbi

Although small in stature, Bobbi does not have a small personality.

Bobbi has shown just how spunky yet sweet they can be. The perfect combination. They are super smart and even self-rescued. Bobbi kept flying into stores until a kind person noticed that they needed rescuing and helped Bobbi find their way here. We are so excited to have Bobbi as part of our flock and look forward to having you join us on Bobbi’s adventures by sponsoring them below!

Handsome Dennis looking for extra seed

Dennis

This friendly gentleman is Dennis. Dennis has become a fan favorite through showing off his many incredible talents. Dennis is an expert at shapeshifting (potato mode is his specialty), has practiced acrobatics in the aviary, and is a pro at nesting. He is an ex-racing pigeon that was found dehydrated and injured in a gas station parking lot and luckily an awesome person spotted him and took care of him before bringing him here. He is a well-deserving, fabulous and sweet pigeon who would absolute love a sponsor like you!

Dante

Did someone say drama? In case you couldn’t tell by his excellent pouting skills in the picture, Dante has quite the flare for the dramatics. He is a pouter pigeon which allows him to blow up his chest like so when he wants to show off (aka always). Dante was found abandoned in Queens and after a stay at Wild Bird Fund made his way here where he creates smiles and laughter each and every day. If you’d like to support Dante’s daily antics, please consider sponsoring him below.

Eddie the pigeon sitting on a perch

Eddie

Eddie is quite the flirt. He was severely injured when he was little and an amazing person brought him to Wild Bird Fund. His injuries left him unreleasable but did not stop him from trying to hit on every pigeon in site.

Eddie is full of personality and is constantly on the move. Although he tries to flirt with every pigeon in the aviary overlooking gender or marital status, he does seem particularly fond of Aspen so we are wondering if they will elope at some point soon. Flirting is hard work – Eddie would love it if you sponsored him to help pay for his seed bill. Flirting works up quite the appetite indeed.

Larry the Turkey:

Larry

Ever step outside your house to see a goat and a turkey walking down the street? We didn’t think so. But for the person who found Larry (and his goat friend, Lottie) that was quite the sight!

Larry (Lawrence if he is naughty) is such a loveable guy. He is known for his love of belly rubs, hatred of vegetables, and his stunning good looks that he likes to show off to everyone. He is always in the mood to get fabulous photos taken of him by his many admirers as well. Will you join the Larry Fan Club by sponsoring this cute fella?

Chickens (Hens/Roosters)

Georgie the best rooster looking a bit confused about the impostor behind him.

Georgie

Want to know what a dog and a chicken have in common? They both like pets and people.

Georgie’s case is a little different though because Georgie thinks he is people. Having grown up living in a person’s house for a large amount of his life before going to live out in a coop, Georgie took on some human behaviors. He likes to go for piggy back rides on your shoulder, will sit next to you on the bench, and loves hanging out with his human friends. He has quite the adventurous lifestyle and hopes that you’ll join in on the fun by being his sponsor!

Fabio

It took a team of 4 searching a 150 acre park to find this boy, but man was he worth it. Although terrified of his own shadow and heavily ridden with 7 different parasites when he first came, this boy made a complete turnaround. After being treated for the parasites and going out with a bachelor flock, the rest of the roos quickly taught him that roosters are actually lap dogs. Fabio decided that he didn’t have to run and hide from people but instead could get love and pets just like the other roos. He is a kind, older rooster who would love to have a friend like you as his sponsor. You can sponsor Fabio by clicking the sponsor button below.

Wanda chicken roaming with her flock

Wanda

I probably should have let Wanda introduce herself. She absolutely loves to chat. Wanda is a sweet but spunky hen that loves to tell anyone who will listen all about her day. She firmly believes everyone should follow the motto of early to bed, late to rise and loves to take naps in between on her favorite spot on the perch right next to the window. If you’d like to continue the conversation with Wanda, please consider sponsoring this chatty girl.

Ducks:

Courage

Courage’s life started with a rocky journey. After being what appeared to have been attacked by a predator, someone abandoned her at just a few weeks old at a church in a dirty cardboard box in Queens. Despite the odds, a kind person found her and brought her to a wildlife rehab center to get treatment.

She was moved to a foster home where she was spoiled and loved before making her way to her forever home here at the sanctuary. It has been such an amazing blessing to watch her grow up and persevere to become the sweet spunky girl she is today. If you’d like to join Courage’s journey, please consider sponsoring her below.

Magdalena the fawn and white runner rescue duck

Magdalena

Magdalena’s favorite pastime is to play in the water! She loves swimming so very much that if her pool isn’t open in time, she’ll try to swim in the water bucket instead. Oh, Magdalena!

Her and 5 other runner ducks were found abandoned at a preserve at around 8-10 weeks of age. After some nifty swamp wading skills, we thankfully were able to swoop these 6 cuties up. To help keep up Magdalena’s shenanigans, please consider sponsoring her below.

Bob the Quail

Bob

Bob loves to sing! He is the happiest little quail and when you pick him up he gets so excited he starts to sing. If you stroke his head though he quickly calms down and falls asleep in your arms. He will sit with you forever if you keep giving him scratches.

This lovebug is waiting for a special person to sponsor him to promote his acapella endeavors and snuggly lifestyle.

When you sponsor an animal, you are supporting their long term care through monthly givings. This mean that you are helping keep food in their tummy, cozy bedding in their coops, and providing them with extra to cover any emergency vet bills that might pop up. Becoming a sponsor to an animal means that our sanctuary has the security in mind that we can cover the current expenses of our residents and allows us to allocate more funds towards helping get abandoned birds off the streets.

The first month you sponsor an animal and receive through email:

* A certificate of sponsorship
* An adorable photo of your feathered friend

Through mail (for donors covering a week or month of care):

*A cute card with your sponsored animal on it

For All Sponsorship Levels:

Quarterly you will receive updates on your friend (March, June, September, and December). Please note that you will only receive these updates if you are currently sponsoring the animal.

When you sponsor the animal, please write a note to us in the additional info section that includes the name of the person you are gifting the sponsorship program to, their address, and any note you want to provide to them.

Please Note:

* Your donation may be distributed to help multiple animals at the sanctuary.
* Animals may be sponsored by more than 1 person.
* This donation does not give you any rights to the animal being sponsored or enable you to make decisions about their care. Sponsoring is not adopting the animal.
* All parts of the sponsorship programs may take up to a week to receive
